When having an issue trying to add a smart plug to your hub you may need to reset it to clear out any old configurations.
To reset the smart plug you will need to do the following.
1) Unplug the smart plug from your outlet.
2) Press and hold the button on the Smart Plug for 15 seconds.
3) Plug the Smart Plug back into the outlet, and immediately press the button on the smart plug 8 times once per second.
If it’s done correctly it it should flicker twice after every second.
Example: flicker, flicker, pause one second, flicker, flicker, pause one second.
From my experience you may need to try this 2-3 times to get it right. By then your allowed to add the smart plug to your hub.
Thank you so much for posting this. I couldn’t figure this out and I was so frustrated, and I thankfully found this post a few pages back in a desperate Google search. My plug is now paired and working perfectly.
That’s great! I’m glad it helped.
attempted but still no flashing lights. dead smart plug?
When you press the button to turn on/off power while it’s plugged in does it light up? If not then yes it’s dead.
This happened to me also with two brand new smart plugs. After attempting to do the update that was available to the new Smart plug the plug went dead.
What Do We Do When The Smart Plug Died Do To Upgrade Failure??
