Check out the forum and you’ll notice our user redmosquito and others had spotted and purchased the Iris garage door controllers. The item number for the garage door controller is #589237 and the correct price is actually $99.99 and not odd price $96.36 listed on the picture.
It also seems that this item number is not searchable at lowes.com so you can’t purchase it online now, but if you call your local store and ask for the item number you just might be lucky enough to find that it’s in stock already.

So I took a trip to my friendly neighborhood Lowes store last night to pick up some home improvement type things and as always took a quick peek at the Iris display to see if anything was new or different, plus I wanted to see the pet door in person. Much to my surprise I spotted the garage door controller that I have been scouring the Lowes.com website for daily. I snatched it up quickly as there was someone else looking at the display as well and this was the last one – this was one of my original wish list items so you can imagine my joy – the purchase price was $96.36 without tax. I did not have a chance to install the device yet but did unbox it when I got home and I can confirm it comes with its own tilt sensor so the other one floating around will not be needed.
More details to come after the install.
Thanks,
redmosquito
OMG. It comes with its own tilt sensor!?
That solves two of my bucket list items with one purchase!
So besides having the tilt sensor what do these puppies do for ~100 simoleons? Does it allow you to open an close the doors from app/web? Can you put them in vacation mode remotely? Does it provide the typical buttons on the faceplate like open/close, light, vacation switch? Do they replace the controller that came with the garage door opener? Very curious about these not a lot of info on it.
Of the things you list above, it only lets you open/close the garage door using the app/web. It connects directly to your existing garage door motor to do this.
Since it is a direct wired connection, it will over-ride vacation mode. So if you are coming home after a vacation (garage door is set in vacation mode so normal remote will not work) you can open your garage door using the app.
Great another add on , and still can’t fix the range extender issue. When can Iris get back to correcting basic fixes before throwing out more gadgets
Might want to check for updates, my range extender is working fine since the recent updates that were pushed out.
I called earlier today. While the Lowes by me didn’t have one, they did offer to ship one from the nearest store to me with free shipping.
Just picked mine up from the local Lowes. Looks like they only keep one on display. But they have tickets that are available to grab and take to the register indicating they probably have more behind the scenes. Who wants to see the box opening video?
I wouldnt mind seeing the unboxing video myke500.

Garage Door Controller Install
Great video myke500, that answered a lot of questions regarding the install that I had. You should post that on the forums, theres a big discussion on the device going on.
Thanks Myke!
I got one of these (grabbed the last one on the shelf) last week….and I love it! Very easy to install. Because it connects directly to the motor housing with two wires exactly like your wall button, there is no “learning codes” or anything else that is needed on the install. The only thing you have to do really is put the door down/up or up/down once so that the tilt sensor and controller can determine the orientation of the door.
You can operate the door from your app. And you can set the door to open and or close in accordance with the different MODES…. for example….set the system to AWAY, and it will close the door if it happens to be open. I think the $99 price is a bit high, but overall, I am pleased so far.
How can you buy add ons when they can’t fix a range extender problem … Going on 5/6 months with no fix in sight !
